Scenes from Saturday + Vinyl & Vamping

This past Thursday, February first was the midpoint between the winter solstice and and the spring equinox. We are on the back half, people. Spring is coming, early or late, it won’t be canceled.

If you’re struggling with a creative project or a resolution, remember, most days are Groundhog Days. Social media might amplify the 2%, but 98% of success is just consistency, consistently doing the boring things that no one sees.

Believe in the possibility of February, you even get an extra day this year.

Cecilia had an all day jazz symposium. Yeah, we didn’t know what that meant either.

A challenge of being one of the few women in the jazz program is the wardrobe. The band director is not always up on the latest fashions and the instructions are… vague at best.

These may look like your standard black leggings but they are NOT leggings. There are pockets and they are made out of a material that “Mom wears to work.”

This is our highest placement on the transfer station starting grid.

One day, I’ll make it to number one.

Took some solace in the fact that we were the second non-pickup truck.

Rise and craft. Ally wakes up with ideas and likes to get to her studio early. I support that.

While Ally was painting, I was also working and spent a good chunk of the day at my desk.

If you get the author newsletter, you’ll know I’m almost done a new book in a new series. I’ve reached the point where I think it’s a pile of garbage (totally normal feeling) and I’m trying to push through to the other side.

No other way to do that other than butt in seat and go word-by-word.

There is something disconcerting about this floating head picture.

On the plus side, Michelle can once again accurately see traffic lights and read road signs.

Ally and Michelle did a Taylor Swift Peloton workout.

They used the workout music loop hole to get around my complaints of constantly playing the same music.

The first Saturday in February means a chili-making day for Haley House.

Quick PSA. I’ve been making this recipe for almost 10 years now and I’ve sliced and diced a lot of bell peppers. I’ve tried all the hacks. This is the easy, most efficient way, to break down a pepper for dicing.

Nope, this is not a merge onto the BQE or the Cross Bronx.

This is what happens on the first sunny day after two weeks of rain, snow, and gray days. Everyone decides to get their car washed.

If you don’t have a teen or pre-teen, vinyl is sort of a thing again.

There was also some dress shopping for a bat mitzvah later this year.

And then a fashion show when she returned home.

Plus, a dance test in the dresses and shoes to finish off the day. A key deciding factor.

With the addition of some Chinese takeout, that was our Saturday.

Remember, we often expect too much from January and not enough from February.

Get out there and start those 2024 resolutions!
