The big nor’easter failed to really materialize, inland, at least, during the day on Saturday (it is raining heavily as I write this on Sunday morning), but it did cancel most of the planned activities, so a busy Saturday turned into a mostly couch day.
Why is it called a nor’easter? This one is pretty simple and I made sure both girls knew the answer so they’d pass their New England citizenship test. It is simply a storm where strong winds blow from the northeast over coastal areas.
After a full week of activities for everyone, a lazy, weather-enforced couch day wasn’t a bad thing.
It might not have been driving, soaking rain, but even a light mist is not something Domino enjoys. He was quite happy with a couch day and gave us a certain look any time we mentioned the word ‘outside.’

He was not however distracted during meal times. We need to post a guard anytime we feed the dogs as Domino will scarf down his bowl and then body check Dash out of the way to get at his bowl.

We canceled the long run (and my 10k race on Sunday was also canceled) but we still managed to get our long training run in on Friday. It went way better than the previous week in cleat-melting Nashville.
Cece banged out 11 miles (after a full day of school) right on pace which included practicing fueling and just one short walk break at 9 miles.
That’s the furthest she has ever run. Furthest I’ve run in a long time too.
Three weeks to the race.
That also gave her plenty of time on Saturday to dye her hair. Not pictured. Not all her hair just mellowing out some blonde highlights.
While she was up in the bathroom with timers and chemicals, we caught up with some people while we sat on the couch.

We did eventually realize the storm was sort of on a slow fizzle and we did venture out for snacks (and actual food) at Trader’s Joe’s.

Just a public service announcement, those pop-up Halloween stores in abandoned malls are now open!
We did a quick spin through Spirit Halloween before heading home.

The rest of the day? You guessed it. Mostly on the couch. We did (finally) watch and enjoy the third Knives Out movie on Netflix.
Hope you’re riding out the storm in comfort and your basement stayed dry.
