If you need a little reminder that spring is indeed here, baseball season started this week.
Just remember, baseball is “designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.” That’s a quote from the late, former MLB commissioner Bart Giamatti.
He also said, “Baseball is about going home, and how hard it is to get there and how driven is our need.” That thought has been driving stories and experiences for centuries.
Domino wants to give a hug to every car that passes while he’s on a walk. So you can imagine how he feels when he sees some other four-legged creatures.
Another sign of spring. The deer, and, unfortunately, the coyotes are out and about in the early mornings.

He can no longer jump up and counter surf, but he can still work the table like a pro looking for scraps.

Her favorite frozen lunch of choice when we don’t let her make nachos for the fifth day in a row.
I probably can’t complain given half of my childhood DNA is hot pockets and Ellio’s.

Do to a fluke in grocery shopping, we ended up with thee tubs of cottage cheese.
Against my better judgement, I tried one of those Insta recipes for cottage cheese mousse.
It wasn’t… terrible. But it wasn’t all that good either. I’ve yet to find a dessert that incorporates cottage cheese all that well other than the Ninja Creami soft serve.

I had a lot more success with my one-pot pasta e piselli. This is a dish I still remember (and can almost taste) from one of our trips to Sicily.
A simple, quick, easy dinner with pasta, peas, some onions, garlic, and cheese.

Why all this cooking? Well, the girls were all out of the house.
First, Ally had a bat mitzvah, so she gone by 3.

Then Michelle and Cecilia were at the senior fashion show fundraiser where Michelle was working the raffle table.

So that left me and the boys to our own devices.
Which mostly meant watching basketball and trying not to let Domino monopolize the couch.

“In this heaven? … No, it’s Iowa.”
Happy Sunday. Maybe it will actually feel like a day to play baseball today.
