April vacation is over. Junior year home stretch begins. Buckle up.
There will be work. There will be decisions. There will be eye rolls, and if I’m being honest, probably some friction from both sides of the table.
So I was glad when I came across this recently. Jerry Seinfeld used to pin photos from the Hubble Space Telescope up on the wall of the show’s writing room.
“It would calm me when I would start to think that what I was doing was important,” he said. “You look at some pictures from the Hubble Telescope and you snap out of it.”
I’m filing this away for the next few months.
Because yes, this stuff is real and it matters. But it’s also not life or death. It’s a grind. It’s important. And it’s also okay if we finish this tomorrow instead of today.
The universe is a pretty good perspective device, if you let it.
I think the little guy (he just turned two, so not technically a puppy anymore) was a little stressed out when we went away for a few days. He’s been very vocal about following and checking in on us since we returned.
The girls loved his 7 am whining bed check when he snuck past the stair gate and got upstairs.

We fancied up the transfer station run this week by finally throwing out the balloon arch from Ally’s birthday back in December.
Why pop all those balloons when they can add some fiesta to the big trash room.

The true sign of spring isn’t the forsythia blooming or the longer days. It’s the opening of the swap station. Now just one week away.

We’ve talked before about how it’s okay for certain areas to be mostly messy, especially creative areas, but even I had to agree that there is a tipping point.
So, no crafting this weekend. The big activity was cleaning and organizing the craft table.

And you can’t clean if you don’t have energy and Ally was adamant that only Doritos would give her enough mojo to get the basement clean.

Speaking of clean, after a week hanging out at the neighbors with some big labs, the dogs needed a bath.

Which always puts the fear of God (or at least the hair dryer and toothbrush) into Domino for the rest of the day. Anytime, Chelle approaches he darts under tables or friendly (a.k.a, not Chelle) legs to hide.

Things I never thought I’d be buying: a horse stall mat.
No, we didn’t buy Cece a pony for her birthday. But we do have carpet in the basement and the treadmill is eating through normal exercise mats, so we are trying the horse stall mat as a very thick (very heavy) alternative.
And if you are going to buy a stall mat, you at least need to check out the baby chicks.

When we are at a loss as to what to feed Ally, after she’s polished off multiple bags of Doritos, we often go for panelle (Sicilian chickpea fritters).

Finally, the evening was mostly taken up by watching the new Netflix thriller Apex, which was a fun, sort-of, throwback action thriller with Charlize Theron.
As usual, Michelle was asleep within five minutes.
